Brighton advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of league champion Liverpool thanks to an injury-time goal from Kaoru Mitoma.
As the game’s final minutes drew near, the teams appeared ready for an Anfield rematch after Lewis Dunk had erased Harvey Elliott’s early lead.
However, Mitoma’s deft finish at the very end gave the Seagulls their second victory over Jurgen Klopp’s team in as many weeks.
It also probably put an end to the Reds’ chances of winning a trophy this year, only a few short months after they came agonizingly close to a quadruple triumph.
